Prerequisites
- A Pro plan subscription
- A domain you own with access to DNS settings
Step-by-step setup
1. Enter your domain
- Open the portfolio builder
- Go to the Domain section
- Enter your custom domain (
janedoe.com) - Click Verify
2. Configure DNS
Add a CNAME record in your domain registrar’s DNS settings:| Type | Name | Value |

DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, though most complete within a few hours. If you’re using a root domain (
janedoe.com), we also recommend adding a CNAME record for www so that www.janedoe.com works too.3. Verify
Return to Prodfolio and click Verify again. Once DNS has propagated, your domain status will change to Active.Domain status
- Pending: DNS not yet verified
- Active: Domain is connected and working
- Error: Something went wrong (check your DNS settings)
Troubleshooting
- Domain still showing “Pending”? DNS propagation can take up to 48 hours, but it’s usually much faster. If it’s been more than 24 hours please contact us at support@prodfolio.io.
- Error status? Double-check that your CNAME record matches exactly what Prodfolio provided.
- Using a root domain (no subdomain)? Some registrars require an ALIAS or ANAME record instead of CNAME for root domains. If you need help please contact us at support@prodfolio.io.
